360Yerevan.com offers over 6000 virtual tours of the city of Yerevan. People can visit virtually parks, restaurants, museums, churches, etc. A couple of aerials views are also available.
It is a beautiful opportunity to visit the magnificent city of Yerevan without leaving your cozy seat.
WHAT WE DID
We have been contacted to help developing the virtual tour part for the website 360Yerevan.com.
We did:
Design the panorama backend architecture (more than 6000 panoramas, everything is fed and rebuilt from database)
Code and design the javascript interface between the backend and the panorama player
Code the XML part on the panorama side
Configure and implement various plugins
Only HTML5 is used, no Flash anymore.
STORIES
Each visitor has the possibility to create “stories”, which is performed by double clicking (or double tap if you’re on a touch device).
A popup window will appear, allowing you to enter the story you want to tell.
DEEP LINKING
Each panorama has its own URL, which changes each time a new panorama is loaded. People can then share the URLs.
AFTER THOUGHTS
It was a challenging project, which lasted about six months. The dynamic (backend part) and javascript one were long to develop.
We had the opportunity to meet fantastic people and are grateful for it.
The only saddening part is that we didn’t get paid; our contractor disappear into thin air once the project was done.
